Benefits of Pollution Prevention
The Metal Finishing Industry Pollution Prevention Project existed in the 1990’s and early 2000’s as a joint industry-government project aimed at assisting metal finishers with the adoption of pollution prevention principles and planning. This voluntary project operated under a Memorandum of Understanding between the Canadian Association of Metal Finishers, the American Electroplaters and Surface Finishers Society, the Metal Finishing Suppliers' Association, the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Environment Canada.
The Project provided great value to members through implementing pollution prevention options and in turn, making processes less wasteful and more efficient; generating savings for members.
There is a final report of the Project summarizing some of these great pollution prevention and money-saving options and an existing Metal Finishing Environmental Management System (EMS) Manual.
